Resolution on Afghanistan

This resolution was adopted at the 9th Congress of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization in 2022.

The U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan is undoubtedly a good thing, but despite this fact, the 20 year long invasion and occupation have devastated the country’s landscape. Currently Afghan assets are being withheld by the U.S., up to $7 billion dollars. The U.S. government has no right to utilize this money as it sees fit. The U.S. has imposed sanctions and cut off the Afghan national bank from international banking networks. Starvation and famine have emerged in Afghanistan.

FRSO demands U.S. hands off Afghanistan and that all assets be returned to the Afghan government in full.
