Resolution in Support of the Palestinian Struggle for Liberation and Self-Determination

Freedom Road Socialist Organization supports the Palestinian Intifada and resistance against terrorist Israeli occupation, and mourns the lives of over 3,000 Palestinians who have been killed since the Intifada began in September of 2000. The heroic people of Palestine have struggled for over 56 years for justice and independence, since the founding of the state of “Israel” on May 14, 1948, when over 750,000 Palestinians were forced off their lands in what the Palestinians call Al-Nakba (the Catastrophe).

First and foremost, as communists of the US, we call for the end of US imperialist support of the terrorist state of “Israel.” This includes an end to financial, military, diplomatic, and political support.

We demand the release of all Palestinian political prisoners, including Ahmad Saadat, the General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). We call for the cessation of Israeli murder and war crimes against the Palestinian people, including collective punishment policies such as home demolitions, mass arrests, and restrictions on movement characterized by the thousands of military checkpoints in the Palestinian territories—especially the current, month-long siege of Rafah refugee camp and other parts of the Gaza Strip. We call for an end to the criminalization of the Palestinian resistance, and Israeli attacks upon, and assassinations of, the popular leadership of the Palestinian National Movement.

We support the National Program of the Palestinian people, originally developed by the Palestine Liberation Organization (P.L.O.). We support the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people. We support the Right of Return for all Palestinian refugees and their descendants, to the homes and land from which they were exiled in 1947-48, and again in 1967. We call for an end to the illegal Israeli occupation of all of historical Palestine, including the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem, and the 1948 territories currently called “Israel,” and the Syrian Golan Heights. We call for the establishment of one democratic, secular state in all of historical Palestine with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. Finally, we support the PFLP and its revolutionary struggle for a free, democratic, and socialist Palestine!

Long live Palestine!
Long live the Intifada!
